Comments:

My name is Kara and I try to conduct my life and business in accordance with one simple rule - treat others as I would want to be treated - a cliché maybe, but it is a mantra that pushes me to do that little extra for my family, friends and clients.

I am a small town girl who believes in honesty, integrity and empathy. I grew up in the Clayton Hills area of Cloverdale before the big development boom in the region. I spent most of my days playing sports and riding horses, and as a result, I have a deep connection to the Fraser Valley. I passed the first three years of High school at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary, only to transfer and become part of the first graduating class from Clayton Heights Senior Secondary in 2001.

I now continue to play sports and ride horses as often as possible in my free-time; but probably most importantly, I take every opportunity to spend quality time with my family.

This will be my 7th year as a member of the Abbotsford Rugby Club, playing on the Woman's first division team. I feel very fortunate to still have the ability to be a part of team athletics, as it has instilled within me the invaluable lessons on the importance of co-operation, trust and teamwork. Furthermore, I feel extremely lucky to live in a community and country that encourages women to do so.

I have had many wonderful opportunities in my life, at age 17 I participated in an exchange program that allowed me to spend three months in Madrid, Spain and I was also able to go back to Europe in 2008 for a five week tour with my Mother, Brother and Sister; during which I visited many countries up close and personal. From my travels I acquired a new perspective on the world, but above all else, I learned to appreciate the unique qualities of life in British Columbia and in Canada as a whole.

I am blessed with a large extended family boasting a whopping 14 aunts and uncles and countless cousins all located in the BC area. In October of 2009 I had the pleasure of adding to my extended and immediate family when I married my Husband Ian. If someone asked me what the most important aspect of life is, I would not hesitate in saying my family.

I am thankful for the wonderful people in my life and look forward to making new memories and relationships. Life is too short to let the little things get you down, or to sit on your hands and be inactive!
